Illinois Route 66 – St. Louis Skyline

After spending the evening riding in a horse-drawn carriage through the streets of St. Louis, we decided to drive over to the Illinois side of the Mississippi river to get a shot of the arch framing the old courthouse. I wanted to bracket a few shots for an HDR composition, but decided otherwise after noticing the locals were watching our every move. I took a couple of tripod mounted shots and got us out of there quick! East St. Louis is a very dangerous place.

Opening day at the 2003 Illinois State Fair. This was Governor Blagojevich’s first State Fair as Governor. Five and a half years later, Blagojevich would become the first Illinois Governor to be impeached by the Illinois House of Representatives, and removed from office by unanimous vote of the Illinois State Senate.

Springfield, Illinois: All of my photographs of Springfield and the Abraham Lincoln Sites are in this collection. For the City of Springfield, there are separate sets for the Capitol Complex, Downtown (including the Old State Capitol), Neighborhoods, Parks, Illinois State Fairgrounds and more. Photographs of Lincoln sites include the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Lincoln Tomb, and so on. Also in the Lincoln "All About Abe" (Set) are a few Lincoln sites not located in Springfield.

The Illinois State Fair: My collection of photographs of the Illinois State Fair. The fair offers something for everyone. Grab a corn dog and lemon shake-up, and come take a look!
